to green or not to green?

i have taken 'going green' to a whole new level this year. it's been a little more than a month since i started drinking a'green smoothie' every morning. once in a while i have been letting my ingredients of my smoothie that day serve as my facebook status and  there i promised a post about the details.

my favorite vegan aunty sent this book, green for life, over for christmas and it's claims are so heavy that the intrigue quickly turned to action for me.

personally the results i have had in my life are much more subtle than the dramatic results i read about in this book, but what i have experienced is enough to encourage you to incorporate them in your life. deep down we all know we should eat more greens, but who can handle more than one salad a day?!

the premise, in my simplified and non scientific version, is just to add the smoothie to your regular diet and the greens being broken up like they are in a blender will get into your system and literally change your cravings. so unlike a diet where you just try to stop eating the things you know you shouldn't, this practice changes your desire for that stuff.

there are a TON of recipes online, but i go about it like this. 2 cups of water with 40% green leafy vegetables and 60% fruit. my favorite is a little avocado in there to make it a bit more creamy.

i love the way they make me feel, so alive, it's a different kind of energy i get from any other kind of meal. i still drink my morning coffee, but i drink less of it. i still crave chocolate every day, but i am way less 'snacky' throughout the day. i also crave less heavy carbs.

the results for others are dramatic, weight loss and more sleep are two that i read about over and over.

and btw, they TASTE GOOD. really! think about the 60% fruit and don't think 'jamba juice'.

oh yes and my favorite result is healthy skin, i don't have the urge to put on makeup like i used to because my skin is the clearest it's ever been.

if any of you try it let me know what you think!
